Join me for a day of Letterpress Printing!
All my workshops are full for this fall and winter. However please sign up to join me for Letterpress- An Introduction to be held on Saturday, March 4th, 2017 from 10:30 to 4:00. The Letterpress- Analog Art in the Digital Age workshop will be held on Saturday, April 8th, 2017 from 10:30 to 4:00. All workshops are held in my studio in North Boulder, Colorado. Watch a short video of a typical workshop.
In Letterpress- An Introduction you’ll learn how to set type and how to create your own layout with words and vintage printer’s ornaments. You’ll learn the basics of “makeready”, adjusting the different parts of a vintage platen press to solve printing challenges – a necessary skill in order to consistently produce professional quality impressions. Participants will leave this one-day class with a basic understanding of letterpress printing and a set of personalized note cards that you’ve designed and printed yourself.
Letterpress- Analog Art in the Digital Age introduces the use of ready-made photopolymer plates as a way to create images for your stationery and cards. Adding the plates introduces a new element into the design process and opens up more possibilities in creativity. We will spend a significant part of the class behind the press developing hands-on production skills. You will leave the class with a collection of 25 to 30 personalized cards, coasters, or sheets of stationery. The pre-requisite for this class is my Introduction to Letterpress Printing class or previous experience using a platen press. You will need to have a basic understanding typesetting and makeready to be successful.
All classes are limited to 4 students. To sign up go to the Two Hands Paperie web site. Sign up for the spring session classes should be available online in January 2017.
